Family Medicine Group (FMG)

A family medicine group (referred to by the French acronym GMF) is a clinic where patients officially register with their doctor in writing. This allows doctors and patients to develop a relationship of trust and work more effectively to prevent and treat health problems. GMFs are a central element of Quebec’s new strategy to facilitate access to family doctors. There are still relatively few GMFs in Montréal, but they will continue to develop in all neighbourhoods over the next few years.
